Hagood named as Eagle of the Week

OKLAHOMA CITY (March 17, 2019) – One of the best weeks of her honor-filled career earned Oklahoma Christian softball player Madison Hagood recognition Sunday as the Eagle of the Week.

Hagood, a senior pitcher from Comanche, Texas, posted a 4-0 week in the circle for OC that included two shutouts and three complete games as the Eagles swept Fort Hays State (Kan.) in a doubleheader and Texas A&M International in a three-game series to move to 21-5 for the season.

She threw a complete-game three-hit shutout with a season-high nine strikeouts in a 1-0 win over Fort Hays State on Monday, then pitched a perfect inning of relief in the second game to earn another win as the Eagles again won 1-0.

On Friday against TAMIU, she allowed two hits with eight strikeouts in a 3-1 complete-game win. She ended the week with a two-hit shutout on Saturday in an 11-0 win over the Dustdevils, allowing no TAMIU runner past second base.

In 20 innings on the week, she gave up only seven hits and one run while recording 21 strikeouts.

The Eagle of the Week award recognizes the top performer in OC athletics for the previous week. The honor is presented each week at least one OC athletic team is in competition.
