CANYON, Texas - No. 17 Oklahoma Christian dropped its LSC Tournament quarterfinal game to the fifth-seeded Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelinas Thursday night, 6-1.
Sydnee Seat (2-for-3) recorded two of OC's six hits, both of which resulted in two bases, while also scoring the Eagles' sole run on an RBI-single from
Danae Lopez (1-for-3).
Marti Yaerger (1-for-2) reached base safely twice after working the maroon-and-gray's only walk of the evening.
Kingsville put two runs on the board in the first inning, which is all it took to advance to the semifinals. The Eagles managed just one hit through the first three innings before TAMUK added another two runs in the fourth and fifth for the 6-0 lead.
Oklahoma Christian threatened to cut into the lead in the fifth, but a double play stranded two base runners as OC was unable to cut into the lead until the sixth frame. Following Seat's second double of the contest, Lopez delivered the maroon-and-gray's first RBI on a single up the middle with all three outs still to work with.
Unfortunately for the Eagles, the next six batters were retired as Oklahoma Christian fell at Schaeffer Park, 6-1.
The maroon-and-gray (39-14, 30-10 LSC) will now await word on where they will travel for their seventh consecutive NCAA Regionals. Selections for the regional field will be Monday, May 11 at 9 a.m. CT.
