SAN ANTONIO (Feb. 25, 2019) – Oklahoma Christian's
Trevor Norby put himself into contention and
Juan Pallach joined him in the top 10 on Monday, the opening day of the St. Mary's Invitational at The Dominion Country Club.
Norby, a junior from Carlsbad, Calif., shot rounds of 2-under-par 70 and 72 on the 6,906-yard golf course and was at 142, tied for second in the 88-man field, two shots behind Ryan Dixon of St. Mary's (Texas). Norby was tied with another St. Mary's player, Emilio Gonzales.
Pallach, a senior from Mexico City, was tied for seventh after firing rounds of 73 and 72 for an overall total of 145.
He and Norby led the way as No. 9-ranked OC stood in a tie for third in the 17-team race. The Eagles posted team round of 296 and 295 for an overall score of 591, tied with Western New Mexico behind No. 10-ranked St. Mary's (581) and Southeastern Oklahoma State (590).
As for OC's other players, senior
Cameron Brown was tied for 37th (79-74—153) and senior
Garrett White (78-77—155) and sophomore
Andres Brictson (75-80—155) were tied for 56th.
The final round will begin at 8 a.m. Tuesday.
