OKLAHOMA CITY (Feb. 17, 2019) – Making four A finals at the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships and being named as the RMAC's freshman of the year earned Oklahoma Christian's
Bergen Davis recognition Sunday as the Eagle of the Week.
Davis, a freshman from Juneau, Alaska, starred for the Eagles in the RMAC meet, which ran from Wednesday through Saturday in Lewisville, Texas. He tied for fourth individually in the meet by earning 63 team points.
On Wednesday, he finished fifth in the 200-yard individual medley and set an OC record with a time of 1:52.13. The next day, in the 400 IM, he set another school record and became the OC program's first-ever RMAC medalist while placing second in 4:02.29.
In the 100 backstroke on Friday, he finished fourth in 50.01 seconds, and he capped his meet on Saturday by taking second in the 200 backstroke in a school-record time of 1:47.85. Afterward, he received the RMAC freshman-of-the-year honor, the first conference-level individual award ever given to an OC swimmer.
His is the third OC men's swimmer to be named as Eagle of the Week, joining
Zac Hawes and
Brandon Heredia.
The Eagle of the Week award recognizes the top performer in OC athletics for the previous week. The honor is presented each week at least one OC athletic team is in competition.
