ATLANTA (Dec. 7, 2019) – Oklahoma Christian sophomore
Bergen Davis finished 60th in the 200-meter backstroke in the preliminary round of the Toyota U.S. Open on Saturday morning at Georgia Tech's McAuley Aquatic Center.
Davis, from Juneau, Alaska, became the first swimmer in the three-year history of the OC program to compete in the national-championship meet, held in the same pool in which his coach,
Josh Davis, won three gold medals in the 1996 Olympic Games.
Bergen Davis swam splits of 29.72 seconds, 32.20 seconds, 33.51 seconds and 33.18 seconds for a final time of 2:08.61. Jacob Pebley, who finished fifth in the event in the 2016 Olympics, won the preliminary round, topping the 101-man field with a time of 1:59.71.

Noah Yanchulis competed in the 200-meter freestyle prelims, finishing 78th in the 118-man field with a time of 1:54.60. Yanchulis was a two-time Big East Conference most outstanding swimmer while attending college at Seton Hall.
