It’s an all-Lone Star Conference schedule for OC baseball in 2020

Chase Berberich and the Eagles will open their 2020 season on Jan. 31.
OKLAHOMA CITY (Oct. 2, 2019) – All 50 games on Oklahoma Christian's baseball schedule, announced Wednesday by coach Lonny Cobble, will be Lone Star Conference contests as the Eagles enter that league for the 2020 season.

LSC coaches voted earlier this year on the new schedule format, with the majority choosing to have all 14 teams in the league to play a series against each other during the regular season. While the format means OC won't have room in the schedule to play local and in-state rivals (other than Cameron), it also means every game will count in the LSC standings.

All LSC series are scheduled to have games on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with a doubleheader on Saturday if the series is a four-game series.

The Eagles will open the season on the road, with a three-game series at Texas A&M-Kingsville from Jan. 31 to Feb. 2. OC will open its home campaign with a three-game series against defending LSC champion Angelo State (Texas) from Feb. 7-9.

The other 11 series will be of the four-game variety, starting at Texas A&M International from Feb. 14-16. OC will host NCAA Division II newcomer Texas-Tyler from Feb. 21-23, then will visit Tarleton State (Texas) from Feb. 28-March 1.

OC will host Arkansas-Fort Smith from March 6-8 before visiting Eastern New Mexico from March 13-15. The Eagles will host their only consecutive home series against Texas-Permian Basin from March 20-22 and Cameron from March 27-29.

After a trip to last season's Heartland Conference champion, Lubbock Christian (Texas), from April 3-5, the Eagles will host 2019 LSC runner-up West Texas A&M from April 10-12. The Eagles will close the season with a pair of series against foes also moving from the Heartland into the Lone Star – at St. Edward's (Texas) from April 17-19 and at home against St. Mary's (Texas) from April 24-26.

The Lone Star Conference postseason tournament will be played at home sites during the first round on May 1-2, with the winners advancing to the final round at a site to be determined May 7-9.

Among the top players returning for OC in 2020 will be All-South Central Region starting pitcher Gabe Rodery, 2019 Heartland freshman of the year Blake Empkey and All-Heartland pick Kevin Collyar.
