TUCSON, Ariz. (Jan. 9, 2019) – Oklahoma Christian outfielder
Hunter Markwardt has been named as a "Player to Watch" in NCAA Division II's South Central Region by
Collegiate Baseball.
The publication annually selects preseason All-Region teams as well as a "Players to Watch" list for each of Division II's eight regions. Markwardt was one of three outfielders on the latter list from the South Central Region, which includes the Heartland, Lone Star and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conferences.
Markwardt, a junior from Argyle, Texas, was a second-team All-Heartland pick last season after leading the Eagles in hitting (.351) with one home run and 11 RBIs. Despite being limited to 37 games due to injuries, he ranked among the league's leaders in stolen bases with 15 (in 19 attempts).
OC will open the season on Feb. 1 against Pittsburg State (Kan.) in Edmond, Okla.
