Box Score 2 LUBBOCK, Texas (March 24, 2018) – No. 14-ranked Lubbock Christian (Texas) completed a four-game series sweep of Oklahoma Christian on Saturday afternoon, winning 14-2 and 9-2 at Hays Field.
Lubbock Christian (19-7, 4-0 Heartland Conference) limited OC (9-14, 0-4) to four hits and one RBI in the doubleheader.
The Chaparrals took control in the first game with an eight-run first inning against OC starter
Skyler Martin (3-1). OC's only two runs came in the sixth, when the Eagles took advantage of two errors by Lubbock Christian and an infield single by
Callen Crockett.
Lubbock Christian pitcher Ryan Johnson (4-1) threw a complete game.
The second game didn't go much better for the Eagles, who didn't record a hit against Lubbock Christian starter Callan Johnson (4-1) until
Jake Collins connected on a one-out single to left field in the fifth inning. OC's only other hit was a single by
Julien Ly in the eighth.
The Chaparrals gradually built a 9-0 lead before OC scored its two runs in the top of the ninth when Crockett walked and
Kyle Bottger,
Chad Kennedy and
Garrett Wages each was hit by a pitch in consecutive plate appearances.
OC starter
Robbie Suhr (2-2) pitched five innings, allowing four runs and seven hits.
The Eagles will host Southern Nazarene on Tuesday in a nonconference game, then host Heartland rival St. Mary's (Texas) for doubleheaders on Wednesday and Thursday.
