Box Score WEATHERFORD, Okla. (March 15, 2016) – Oklahoma Christian rallied from an early five-run deficit but eventually fell 11-5 to Southwestern Oklahoma State at the Athletic Complex on Tuesday afternoon.
Alex Polston and
Robert Rosser each had a pair of RBIs for OC (10-10), while Zach Barton and Trent Troxell each hit a pair of doubles for Southwestern (13-7).
Southwestern used a five-run second inning – taking advantage of two OC errors – to take a sizable early lead. But the Eagles scored once in the third, as Rosser singled home Polston, and four more times in the fourth, with Polston's two-run single the key blow. Rosser's RBI groundout scored Polston to tie the game at 5-5.
Right-hander
Jared Price (1-1) relieved OC starting pitcher
Kyle Lacy to start the bottom of the fourth, and the Bulldogs scored twice in the inning, on a pair of walks and a two-run double by Korbin Polston. Southwestern added another run in the fifth and three more in the seventh.
OC managed only two hits in the final five innings. Southwestern reliever Dillon Freie (1-0) picked up the win with 1 2/3 innings of hitless relief.
The Eagles will return to action on Friday afternoon, when they open a key three-game Heartland Conference series with a doubleheader at Rogers State.
