Box Score OKLAHOMA CITY (April 18, 2015) – A second straight series win over longtime NCAA Division II baseball power St. Mary's (Texas) wasn't to be for Oklahoma Christian.

No. 13-ranked St. Mary's jumped to an early lead and pulled away en route to an 8-0 win over the Eagles on Saturday afternoon at Dobson Field, giving the Rattlers the series win after splitting with OC on Friday.

OC (25-16, 11-10 Heartland Conference) won two of three from the Rattlers last season in San Antonio, helping propel the Eagles to a third-place finish in the league race. But St. Mary's starter Cody Butler (8-2) limited OC's offensive chances on Saturday, allowing just four hits in eight innings.

Meanwhile, St. Mary's (30-10, 17-4 Heartland Conference) pounded out 17 hits against seven OC pitchers, including starter Hunter Raley (4-4), who didn't make it out of the second inning. The Rattlers' first three batters of the game reached base and St. Mary's went ahead 2-0 on a two-run single by Bryce Brandl.

Matt Smith keyed a two-run fourth with a leadoff homer and the Rattlers added another run in the fifth and three more in the sixth.

OC had its best chance to score in the seventh, when Brady Baugh and Ryan Ward hit consecutive singles with one out, but Butler struck out Austin Orth and retired Jordan Lopez on a fly ball.

Zac Cobble had OC's other two hits, singles in the third and eighth innings.

The Eagles will return to action next Friday, visiting Lubbock Christian (Texas) for the first two games of a three-game conference series.
