RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. (March 31, 2014) – Three Arkansas Tech pitchers combined on a five-hitter and Oklahoma Christian lost a nonconference baseball game for the first time in more than a month, falling 6-3 to the Wonder Boys on Monday afternoon at Tech Field.

OC (18-10) fell into a 4-0 hole after three innings against Arkansas Tech (25-8) and pulled within 4-3, only to have the Wonder Boys again extend their lead and hold off the Eagles, who struggled offensively. Only one OC player, Cody Rosecrans, had more than one hit.

Arkansas Tech jumped ahead 1-0 in the second inning on a run-scoring single by Keenan Jumper. The Wonder Boys score three more runs in the third off OC starter Zach Loomis (2-2), taking advantage of two OC errors and doubles by James Sharp and Mike Kattula.

OC rallied in the fifth against Arkansas Tech starter Zach Skelton (6-3). The first five OC batters in the inning reached base, with Caleb Price and Cory Eastwood each drawing a bases-loaded walk. A.J. Florence followed with a sacrifice fly to make it 4-3, but Skelton escaped the jam when Eastwood was thrown out trying to steal second base and Markus Carr flew out to center field.

Kris Ayers' two-run double in the seventh off OC reliever Dylon Sturges put Arkansas Tech up 6-3. The Eagles briefly threatened in the eighth against Arkansas Tech reliever Bryson Morris, with Carr and Robert Rosser delivering two-out singles, but Carr was thrown out trying to score from first base on Rosser's hit.

Randy Vallejo pitched a scoreless ninth inning for the Wonder Boys to record his 10th save of the season.

OC had won three straight nonconference games since dropping both ends of a doubleheader at Southeastern Oklahoma State on Feb. 25. The Eagles will face another nonconference foe on Tuesday when they visit East Central. ECU, like Arkansas Tech, is a member of the Great American Conference.
