Box Score ODESSA, Texas (March 15, 2014) – Oklahoma Christian twice this baseball season has pulled a win out of the fire after a ninth-inning rally. The Eagles had the tables turned on them Saturday afternoon at Roden Field.
Texas-Permian Basin scored three runs in its final at-bat to beat the Eagles 6-5 and complete a sweep of the three-game Heartland Conference series.
OC (11-8, 7-5 Heartland) led 4-1 after six innings and 5-3 entering the ninth, but the Falcons loaded the bases in the bottom of the ninth against OC reliever Dylon Sturges (1-2) with a single and two hit batsmen. Ty Morgan followed with a two-run single to tie the game.
Garrett Guys relieved Sturges and, after an intentional walk to load the bases, struck out Ryan Arrick. But Ryne Head then drew a walk from Guys, forcing in Trey Cochran with the winning run for UTPB (13-12, 5-4).
Jordan Lopez, Blake Stringer and Caleb Price each had a pair of hits for OC, while Price had two RBIs. OC
UTPB reliever Ethan Blucher, who threw the ninth inning, took the pitching win to move to 2-0.
