ADA, Okla. (March 19, 2013) – Oklahoma Christian outhit East Central 11-9 but the Eagles stranded 10 runners on base, allowing ECU to win 7-3 on Tuesday at Tiger Field in the rubber match of the three-game series between the baseball teams.
OC (15-10) left two runners on base in each of the first three innings. ECU (7-19) jumped on OC starter Kacy Cook for three runs in the third inning and never trailed after that.
Cook (0-1) walked Sam Malchar, then hit Benny Woodard with a pitch and Jake Caton followed with a triple to left-center field to make it 2-1. Mac Grace's double scored Caton and put the Tigers up 3-1.
Doubles by Dillon Andrews and Blake Stringer in the top of the fifth pulled OC within 3-2. The Eagles had two batters on base with two out, but ECU reliever Hernan Vivas (1-1) came on to strike out Garrett Stephenson.
Grace's RBI single in the bottom of the fifth made it 4-2 and the Tigers added another run in the sixth and two more in the seventh on run-scoring singles by Josh Lavender and Justin Sutherland, making it 7-2.
OC had three hits in the ninth and pulled within 7-3 with two runners on base, but Garrett Guys grounded into a double play to end the game.
Andrews led OC, going 3-for-5, while Stringer and Cory Eastwood had two hits each.
OC and the Tigers had split a doubleheader played in Oklahoma City on Saturday.
