KINGSVILLE, Texas (Feb. 15, 2013) – Jordan Lopez and Sean Murphy each had a pair of hits, but Oklahoma Christian couldn't generate the big hit and fell 5-1 to Texas A&M-Kingsville on Friday night at Nolan Ryan Field.

Matt Rhodes (2-0) struck out seven in seven innings for TAMUK (8-1), which jumped to a quick 2-0 lead in the first inning on Ryan Guedry's two-run single.

The Javelinas added to their lead in the third off OC starter Tyler Sturges (0-1), as Chris Ballou hit a two-run homer. TAMUK made it 5-0 in the fourth on Ballou's RBI double to left-centerfield. Sturges lasted five innings, giving up seven hits, walking three and striking out six.

Ryan Nash pitched two shutout innings and Jacob Stephenson threw one scoreless inning for the Eagles.

OC (1-3) had runners in scoring position in the second and third innings but couldn't bring them around to score. The Eagles finally broke through in the seventh when Murphy singled with one out, stole second base, then scored on a single by Evan Draper.

OC put two runners on in the ninth inning but TAMUK reliever Weston Silverburg wriggled out of the jam with a pair of strikeouts.

Ballou finished 3-for-4 to lead the Javelinas.

The Eagles will try to snap their three-game losing streak when they face TAMUK in a doubleheader on Saturday.
