Lady Eagles suffer loss to No. 4 OBU

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (Feb. 20, 2010) – The Oklahoma Christian women's basketball team suffered a 74-62 defeat on Saturday night against No. 4 Oklahoma Baptist University.

The Lady Eagles battled the Lady Bison through the first half as both teams sought after the lead. Through the first 10 minutes of the game, neither team led by more than three points despite seven lead changes and two ties.

The Lady Eagles down by one at 17-16 gave up a 10-0 run to the Lady Bison falling to an 11-point deficit with 4:42 remaining in the half.

The OC women closed the gap to seven points with 49 seconds left before the Lady Bison scored with four seconds left to head into the locker room nine points ahead.

During the second half, the Lady Eagles struggled to keep up with the No. 2 ranked OBU squad. The OBU women quickly jumped to a 13-point lead at 39-26 with 16:34 showing on the clock.

Despite several attempts to close OBU's margin, the Lady Eagles fell to a 20-point deficit with 6:53 remaining to play. In response the Lady Eagles threw together an 8-0 run cutting the OBU lead to 12.

12 points was the closest the OC women came within the Lady Bison through the remainder of the game leaving the Lady Eagles with a 74-62 loss.

Lindsay McCown erupted with a 27-point game to lead the Lady Eagles. McCown additionally grabbed eight rebounds and made four assists.

The trio of Roz Hamilton, Brittney Kennedy, and Lisa Chenoweth scored nine points each on the night. Hamilton made five rebounds, five assists, and two steals while Kennedy grabbed another six boards for the Lady Eagles. Chenoweth pulled down six rebounds of her own and made three assists.

The Lady Eagles fall to a 17-11 overall record and hold a 10-10 conference record.

The OC women will host John Brown University (Ark.) at home on Thursday night as part of a women's and men's double header for their last home game of the season. The women will tip-off at 6 p.m. followed by the men's game at 8.
