Lady Eagles oust No. 7 OBU, 65-60

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (Dec. 4, 2008) – Oklahoma Christian University picked up a huge 65-60 victory at home against the seventh-ranked Lady Bison of Oklahoma Baptist University on Thursday night.

The win moves the Lady Eagles to 2-0 in Sooner Athletic Conference play and 8-1 overall on the young season.

The first half was a back-and-forth battle, featuring five ties and four lead changes. OBU eventually slugged out a 28-26 lead at the half.

Brittney Kennedy led the Lady Eagles with 10 points in the first half, followed by Lisa Chenoweth with eight and Lindsey Gipson and Kailin DeCamp with four each.

The beginning of the second half was more of the same until Haley Myers hit a shot to spark an 11-0 run. The rally was capped by another basket from Kennedy at the 11:36 mark to make it 44-33.

The Lady Eagles stretched their lead to 14 points by the 7:57 mark when Lisa Chenoweth hit a three-point bucket.

OBU cut the Lady Eagles' lead down to three points late in the second half when Jennifer Jupin hit a three pointer with 27 seconds left to go in the game.

But Gipson and DeCamp both hit clutch free throws from there to ice the game with the Lady Eagles on top 65-60.

Kennedy lead the Lady Eagles with 16 points, while Chenoweth chipped in 13 and Gipson added 12.

The Lady Eagles went 4-of-10 from three-point distance and 24-of-51 (47 percent) from the field to secure their second conference win of the season.

OC returns to action on Saturday night in Shawnee, Okla., against St. Gregory's University. The game will begin at 6 p.m.
