Lady Eagles drop road game to No. 9 Lady Bison

SHAWNEE, Okla. (Feb. 7, 2008) – Oklahoma Christian dropped an 82-62 decision at No. 9 Oklahoma Baptist on Thursday night.

OC fell to 11-11 overall and 7-8 in Sooner Athletic Conference play with the loss. OBU improved to 20-2 and 12-2.

Kailan DeCamp led all scorers with 19 points on 7-of-7 free-throw shooting.

The Lady Eagles were within six as late as the six-minute mark Thursday, but a late Lady Bison charge put the game out of reach.

OC and OBU played through three ties and six lead changes in a scoring-packed opening 10 minutes. OC led by as many as three, but fell behind 19-18 at the 10:14 mark on Ashley Gamble's score in the lane.

The basket ignited a 10-2 Lady Bison run that helped OBU to a 27-20 lead by 7:13.

OC got three-pointers from Danielle Cox and Cressi Bryant to bring the deficit to 31-28 by the 4:30 mark.

The teams then combined for 10 points in the final 1:36. OC used a Cox basket with 10 seconds left to make it 39-33, but OBU's Heather Graham scored with one second remaining to give the Lady Bison a 41-33 halftime edge.

Brittney Kennedy scored just 10 seconds into the second half to again bring the Lady Eagles within six at 41-35.

After a 7-2 OBU rally took the lead to 48-37, five straight OC points again put the Lady Eagles down just six.

Haley Myers hit a triple at 14:19, then DeCamp sunk two charity tosses with 13:44 left to make 48-42.

The teams played even over the next seven minutes. Two Bryant free throws with 6:32 left made it a 58-52 game.

But OBU rattled off 10 unanswered to open up a 68-52 advantage by the 3:51 mark. The Lady Bison shot an even 50 percent (11-of-22) from the field in the second half en route to the 20-point win.

OC committed 21 turnovers to OBU's 17 in the loss. OC shot 35.7 percent (20-of-56) from the field. OBU shot 51.6 percent (29-of-56) for the game.

Myers finished with 10 points while Cox added nine points. Charlotte Heron scored six points and snagged a team-high seven rebounds.

Taujhnae Travis led the Lady Bison with 17 points.

The Eagles and Lady Eagles are back in action on Saturday night against St. Gregory's at the Eagles' Nest. The women's ball goes up at 6 p.m. followed by men's action at 8 p.m.
