Lady Eagles Hold Second Spot in SAC

Oklahoma Christian maintained its hold on second place in the Sooner Athletic Conference race with an 80-62 victory over Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, Okla. Feb. 24.

The 10th ranked Lady Eagles, 23-7 on the year and 13-4 in conference play, rode a 60 percent shooting effort in the second half to cruise past the Lady Rangers. The victory insured OC of the No. 2 seed in the SAC Tournament in Shawnee, March 3-8.

Four players finished in double figures with sophomore Katie Fariss leading the way with 17 points, including four of nine shooting from three-point range. Junior Carlissa Plowden scored 14 points and senior Becky Gray and sophomore Rachel Martin each scored 11 points.

Oklahoma Christian seized control of the game early in the second half, reeling off a 30-6 run for a 70-48 lead at the 6:10 mark. Fariss contributed three treys, Jennifer Haynes had a three point play and senior Becky Gray hit a three-pointer in the scoring surge.

The Lady Eagles close regular season play against Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee Feb. 26.
