Success at the foul line lifted Oklahoma Christian to a 72-69 victory over NCAA Division II Central Oklahoma in Edmond Dec. 6.
Scoring their last 17 points from the free throw line, the Lady Eagles built a 72-63 lead and withstood a flurry of UCO baskets in the final two minutes to raise their record to 5-3.
Senior Lauren Decker led OC with 25 points, including 14-of-15 at the foul line and senior Tasha Turney added 20 points on seven of 12 shooting from the field. Another senior, Carlissa Plowden, contributed 14 points and had a game-high 11 rebounds.
OC held a 34-26 lead at halftime and led by as much as 47-40 in the early minutes of the second half. UCO found its shooting touch and came back to knot the count 53-all with 9:30 remaining.
Pushing the ball inside, Decker and company made the most of foul opportunities and finished 27-of-35 at the charity stripe.
After hosting Park University Dec. 9, the Lady Eagles break for the holidays and return to action in the South Padre Island Shootout in South Padre, Texas, Dec. 28-29.
