Box score

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (March 7, 2008) – Oklahoma Christian was eliminated from the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament by Lubbock Christian (Texas) 62-55 in overtime on Friday night.

LCU used 22-of-25 second-half free throws to overcome a 28-15 halftime deficit.

After Carolyn Manning's free throw at 1:27, LCU's Wilcox-Lovorn came off a screen and drilled an NBA-range three-pointer on the wing to knot the score at 51-51 with :43.6 seconds left.

A frantic final minute ensued.

Kailan DeCamp took a Devin Sewell pass and hit a baseline-shot-clock-expiring jumper at :13.3 to put OC up 53-51.

Then LCU took the ball the length of the court where Manning laid home two to again lock it up at 53-53.

DeCamp could not get a shot off in the final seconds and the game went to overtime.

LCU used the momentum to score the first five points of the extra stanza.

Manning made a layup at 3:11, then Wilcox-Lovorn again buried a triple to give the Lady Chaps a 58-53 advantage by the 2:26 junction.

Danielle Cox scored on an up-and-under shot with :59.1 seconds to play to narrow it to 58-55. But two Jennifer Hughes followed to seal the LCU win.

The Lady Eagles looked like a team on a mission in the first half on Friday. OC shot out of the gate with a 7-0 run to start the game.

Haley Myers drilled five points in the rally and Lindsey Gipson banked home two more at 15:39 to make it 7-0.

Severyn Smith finally got LCU on the board at the 13:43 mark, but OC came back with an 11-4 run to take an 18-6 edge by 7:10 on Brittney Kennedy's turnaround jumper.

The Lady Eagles took two 13-point leads before grabbing their largest lead yet at the 16-second mark on two Myers free tosses.

The scores gave OC a 28-13 lead, then Wilcox-Lovorn dropped home two with under a second to play to cut the Lady Eagles' lead to 28-15 at intermission.

OC held LCU to 27.8 percent (5-of-18) first-half shooting. Kennedy had 10 points at the break on 5-of-8 shooting.

A rejuvenated LCU squad opened the second stanza on an 8-2 jaunt. A pair of Manning hoops pulled the Lady Chaps to within 30-23 by the 15:40 point.

The Lady Eagles moved the lead to 11 points at the 12:55 and 11:40 marks, before two Manning charity tosses at 7:48 made it a 42-37 game.

Then four quick points from Cressi Bryant and Kailan DeCamp upped the edge back to 46-37 by 7:08.

The action seesawed between OC leads of six and nine points over the next three-plus minutes.

At 3:30, Manning scored in the paint to again make it a five-point contest at 49-44.

Haley Myers hit a runner in the lane at 2:18 to give the Lady Eagles another seven-point cushion, then Wilcox-Lovorn hit from downtown to make it 51-47 with 2:08 on the clock.

The four-point lead was OC's smallest since the 11:12 mark of the first half and set up the game's final sequence.

Kennedy had a team-best 18 points to go with five rebounds. Myers finished with 14 points, while DeCamp added 11 points and eight rebounds.

Manning had 19 points on 9-of-12 free-throw shooting to lead the Lady Chaps. Wilcox-Lovorn had 17.

The loss most likely ends the Lady Eagles season. OC (17-14) returns every player to next year's squad, including All-SAC selections Kailan DeCamp (first team) and Lindsey Gipson (honorable mention).
