OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (Oct. 18, 2008) – The Oklahoma Christian University Eagles and Lady Eagles both fell just short at home to visiting Oklahoma City University on Saturday night. The Eagles lost 1-0 and the Lady Eagles, 2-1.

Men's game:

The Eagles found themselves in a hole early against the fourth-ranked team in the NAIA when OCU's Stuart Hilton scored off a pass from Stephen Sheffield to make the score 1-0 just 12 minutes in.

The second half would prove to be a defensive struggle with neither team able to find the back of the net. But the Eagle defense kept OC in it by muffing OCU's offense the rest of the night.

The unit would provide a boost late in the second half when goalkeeper Bryan Cochrum blocked a Hilton penalty kick. But the team could not capitalize on the offensive end, ending the game with a score of 1-0.

It was a physical game that saw nine yellow cards handed out – five to OCU and four to the Eagles.

The Eagles took six shots in the game, with five of them on goal. The team also benefited from seven Cochrum saves.

The loss drops the Eagles record to 4-6-1 on the season and 1-3-1 in conference play. OCU moved to 13-1 overall and 5-0 in the SAC.

Women's game:

The women's game was a defensive showdown in the first half, and the score was tied 0-0 at intermission.

The scoring finally started in the 47th minute when OCU's Christin Baker had an unassisted goal to make it 1-0 in favor of the Stars.

Just five minutes later, OC's Chelsea Woods answered with a goal assisted by Stephanie Duncan to lock things back up at 1-1. It was Woods' second score of 2008.

The scoring was subdued by the Lady Eagle defense until the 79th minute. But that's when OCU scored a rebound goal from Alex Miley to put the Stars up for good at 2-1.

The Lady Eagles were outshot 13-7 in the game. OC goalkeeper Lisa Jorgensen had five saves. The Lady Eagles fell to 2-3-0 in the SAC and 6-6-1 overall. OCU improved to 11-3-1 and 7-0 in conference play.

The teams will return to action Tuesday, Oct. 21 at home against St. Gregory's University. The women will begin at 5 p.m. and the men will follow at 7 p.m. This will be the final home double header of season and will be "Senior Night" for both squads.
