SALINA, Kan. (Sept. 27, 2008) - Oklahoma Christian University beat Kansas Wesleyan 3-1 on Saturday evening in women's soccer. The Eagles dropped a 3-1 result to KWU.
The Lady Eagles improved to 3-3-1 under first-year head coach Randall Robison with the win.
Sophomore Emma Cole led the offensive attack with two goals. The Tyreso, Sweden, native scored 30 minutes in when she chipped a shot over the goalkeeper's head to make it 1-0.
OC cushioned its lead to 2-0 in the second half when Jill Lintner found the net in the 50th minute.
After the Lady Coyotes cut the lead in half with Holly Fulton goal at 58:06, Cole struck again. This time she capitalized on a free kick by pounding the ball off the top-right corner of the goal and into the net to make it 3-1.
Lady Eagle goalkeeper Lisa Jorgensen played well in goal all night. She had 11 saves in 90 minutes and only one goal allowed. The win improves OC to 1-1 all time vs. KWU.
The Eagles dropped a tough 3-1 decision to the Coyotes in the nightcap.
KWU was up 2-0 by the 23rd minute after scores from Juan Mundo and Arturo Guizar. OC stiffened its defense and held the deficit at 2-0 through halftime and into the second stanza.
In the 49th minute, freshman Matt Lambert netted his first-career collegiate goal. The Little Rock, Ark., native headed in a free-kick pass from fellow freshman Will Binder to cut the deficit to 2-1.
But the Coyotes sealed it with an 85th-minute strike from Derek Dodrill.
OC falls to 2-3-2 with the setback. The series is now tied at 1-1 between OC and KWU.
Both squads return to action at home on Sept. 30 against Sterling College (Kan.). The women's game will kick off at 5 p.m. before the men's game at 7 p.m.
