Eagles blanked in series opener at RSU

CLAREMORE, Okla. (April 24, 2008) – Oklahoma Christian University lost 10-0 at Rogers State University (Okla.) Thursday night in Sooner Athletic Conference baseball.

The setback dropped Oklahoma Christian to 14-25-1 and 6-22 in the SAC while Rogers State improved to 32-14 and 17-11.

The Eagles only mustered two hits in the game, while the Hillcats collected 10. OC also committed five errors which made just three of RSU's 10 runs earned.

The Hillcats jumped out 6-0 in the first inning and never looked back. RSU knocked out four hits in the inning and capitalized on two OC miscues.

The SAC-newcomer Hillcats scored twice more in both the fourth and fifth frames to take the 10-0 run-rule victory after seven.

Josh Balch (1-for-3) and Austin Reid (1-for-2) had the Eagles' lone hits. RSU had six players with at least one hit, with Greg Speed (2-for-4) and Kelley Blake (2-for-3) tallying multi-hit efforts.

Ryan Morris (1-7) suffered the loss after going five innings and allowing 10 runs, but just three earned. The freshman right-hander struck out four.

Josh Walker (5-2) was the winner with five innings of shutout baseball.

OC and RSU complete the series with a doubleheader at 1 p.m. on Saturday at OC's Dobson Field. The games will wrap up the Eagles' 2008 season, the school's first since 2001.
