Bison complete three-game sweep of Eagles

Box score

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (April 7, 2008) – Oklahoma Christian University dropped the final game of a three-game series to Oklahoma Baptist University 16-3 on Monday at Dobson Field.

Oklahoma Baptist used 20 hits, and 12 runs in the first six innings of play, to improve to 30-8 and 14-7 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.

Oklahoma Christian is now 12-23-1 overall and 4-20 in the league.

OBU completed the sweep after wins of 7-6 and 15-5 on Saturday. The first game on Saturday came down the OBU's final at-bat, where Chris Chambers' RBI single was the game winner.

On Monday, the Bison posted a two-run second before a four-run third busted the game open. Slugger Joshua Collazo provided the big blow in the third – a two-run home run over the left-field fence.

OBU tacked on three more runs in the fourth before OC got on the board in the bottom of the fifth.

Ray Long drew a two-out walk, then motored home on Jordan Price's double in the left-center field gap to make it 9-1.

After another OBU three spot in the top of the sixth, the Eagles brought a pair across in the bottom half.

Nick Hollrah blooped a RBI single to center that scored Tyler Gipson. Then Chance Nichols scorched a two-out triple that plated Hollrah to cut OBU's edge to 12-3.

But the Bison, fourth in the current SAC standings, brought four more across in the ninth after going scoreless in the seventh and eighth to complete the 13-run win.

Price had another steady day at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and a RBI. Hollrah (2-for-4) was the only other Eagle to reach two hits.

Ryan Morris (0-6) took the loss after giving up 12 runs (nine earned) over 5.2 innings pitched.

Cody Lambeth (2-for-3) and Josh Kirkpatrick (2-for-6) each had four-RBI games for OBU.

OC looks to get back on track by hosting Mid-America Christian (Okla.) (7-27, 1-23) on Thursday. The Eagles and Evangels will play a single nine-inning game at 3 p.m.
