OKLAHOMA CITY (Feb. 15,2010) – The Oklahoma Christian University baseball team continued their season on Monday, scoring 25 runs in two games against Peru State College, winning game one 15-0 and taking game two 10-3.
Game 1
In game number one it was all Eagles from the beginning. After a pair of first inning strikeouts from Oklahoma Christian starter Brady Hamar, Taylor Parcus scored on a balk by Peru State pitcher Yimy Rodriguez, after stealing third base. At the end of the first the Eagles led 1-0.
In the bottom of the second inning the Eagles pushed five more runs across, getting singles from Dillon Andrews, Jordan Price and Zac Coshow to give the Eagles a 6-0 lead.
It was more of the same in the bottom of the third. Tyler Gipson led off the inning with a homerun to right field. Three batters later, Parcus also went deep to right field, scoring two more runs and gave Oklahoma Christian a 9-0 lead.
The Eagles finished the game off in the bottom of the fourth inning scoring six more runs. After Coshow led the inning with a walk, Chance Nichols followed with a base clearing triple. The Eagles went on to score five more runs with two outs and ended the game early run ruling at 15-0.
Price led the way offensively going 3 for 4 at the plate, with four RBIs and 2 runs scored. Parcus and Dillon Andrews followed with 2 RBIs apiece.
Hamar threw five shutout innings, giving up only two hits and recording 4 strikeouts.
Game 2
In game two the Eagles were equally as dominate scoring four runs in each of the first two innings to take an 8-1 lead.
The Eagles never looked back, winning the game 10-3.
Jay White and Quaid Johns led the Eagles at the plate. White went 2 for 3 and drove in three runs, and Johns 2 for 4 with three RBIs.
The Eagles received another strong pitching performance in game two, this time from Dustin Andrews. He also threw a complete game, giving up three hits, striking out seven and only allowing one walk.
The Eagles will return to the diamond on Feb. 16, when they will take on Bacone College at home. The games are tabbed to start at 2 p.m.
