OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (Feb. 16, 2010) – The Oklahoma Christian baseball team dropped both games against Bacone College (Okla.) in Tuesday's doubleheader losing 8-5 in the first game and 9-5 in the second.
Game 1
The Eagles got a quick three outs in each of the first two innings and utilized their time at bat to score five runs. After Dillon Andrews scored on a Bacone error in the first and Tyler Gipson, Jay White, Heath Steele, and Taylor Parcus each scored in the second, the Eagles led 5-0 heading into the third inning.
In the third and fourth innings, Bacone responded with three runs and two runs, respectively, to tie the game while the Eagles were unable to score.
The Warriors picked up another run in the fifth and two more in the seventh while still keeping the Eagles from scoring to take the win at 8-5.
Justin Ebert pitched the first 4.1 innings for the Eagles and tallied six strikeouts before handing over the mound to Bret Rodgers to finish out the game.
Dustin Andrews assisted the Eagles from the plate hitting two out of four chances and tallying 2 RBIs. Steele went two for three and added another RBI.
Game 2
The Eagles struggled at the start in game two of the doubleheader as they went scoreless through the first three innings and gave up six runs.
After Connor Williams pitched 1.2 innings, Derek James took over the reigns to finish out the game. The Eagles held the Warriors from scoring in the third and then put up two runs to Bacone's one in the fourth.
After both Jordan Price and Dustin Andrews each singled, Price advanced to third on a ground out while Andrews was forced out. Davis got on base with a walk before allowing Balch to pinch run. Gipson then doubled batting in Price and Balch to get the Eagles on the board with two runs.
The Eagles gave up a run in the fifth and sixth before Steele hit a home run over the right fence in the bottom of the sixth to score three runs with both White and Ebert on base. The Eagles then trailed 9-5 before the seventh.
A scoreless last inning left the Bacone Warriors the victors of game two.
Zac Coshow hit two for four to lead the Eagles from the plate.
The Eagles now hold a 3-3 overall record and will play next at Oklahoma State University on Saturday at 3 p.m.
