Katy Clift scored 12 points for OC in an 89-69 loss at Northwestern Oklahoma State.

ALVA, Okla. (Nov. 21, 2011) – Oklahoma Christian committed 38 turnovers on Monday night as the Lady Eagles lost 89-69 to Northwestern Oklahoma State at Percefull Fieldhouse in the Sooner Athletic Conference women's basketball opener for both teams.

OC (3-2, 0-1 SAC) never led and shot just 32.4 percent (20 of 61) from the field against Northwestern (4-2, 1-0), while the Rangers shot 52.9 percent (36 of 68). Northwestern also outrebounded OC 47-35, helping the Rangers offset 31 turnovers of their own.

"Shooting bad and turning the ball over excessively is a losing combination," OC head coach Stephanie Findley said.

Taylytha Williams led four Northwestern players in double figures with 26 points, going 11 of 16 from the field, while Renee Golliday had 21 points on 10-of-13 shooting. Katy Clift and Katy O'Steen each scored 12 points to lead the Lady Eagles.

Northwestern jumped to a 12-0 lead as OC didn't score a field goal until almost four minutes had elapsed. Three-pointers by Andee Wayne and Skyler Newberry pulled the Lady Eagles within 14-12 at the 13:30 mark, but Northwestern scored the next six points to rebuild its advantage. The Rangers led 42-31 at halftime.

Northwestern pushed its lead to 61-41 with 13:49 left on a basket by Williams and led by as many as 22 points in the final minutes. OC never cut the lead into single digits during the season half.

The Lady Eagles are off until Dec. 1, when they will visit SAC rival St. Gregory's.
