Tarynn Branscum set career highs for 3-pointers (three) and points (nine) in OC's 85-52 loss Thursday night at Lubbock Christian.

LUBBOCK, Texas (Feb. 23, 2012) – Katy Clift joined Oklahoma Christian's 1,000-point club and Tarynn Branscum had a career shooting night, but the Lady Eagles lost 85-52 on Thursday night at No. 6 Lubbock Christian (Texas).

Kelsey Canavan scored a carerer-high 29 points for Lubbock Christian (23-4, 20-1 Sooner Athletic Conference), which kept pace with top-ranked Oklahoma City University atop the SAC standings. Canavan went 12-of-16 from the field and added eight rebounds and three assists for the Chaparrals.

"We took away their guards and they killed us inside," OC coach Stephanie Findley said. "They are a very balanced team."

OC (9-19, 4-17) never led. Lubbock Christian took control with a 21-5 run that gave the Chaparrals a 31-12 lead midway through the first half. A 7-0 run by the Lady Eagles cut the margin to 36-21, but that was as close as OC came the rest of the way.

Clift's basket with 5:28 left in the first half gave her 1,000 career points, making her the 25th Lady Eagle player to reach that scoring mark. She finished the game with 16 points and has 1,010 career points entering her career finale on Saturday at Wayland Baptist (Texas).

OC's other senior starter, Branscum, went 3-of-5 from 3-point range and scored a career-high nine points. Branscum previously had never made more than two 3-pointers in any game and was 7-of-41 from behind the arc this season before Thursday's outburst.

The Lady Eagles shot 31 percent from the field (18 of 58) while Lubbock Christian shot 45.3 percent (29 of 64). The Chaparrals also made 19 of 22 free-throw attempts and outrebounded OC 48-31.

Emily Atkins scored 21 points for Lubbock Christian, while Nicole Hampton added 16 points, seven rebounds, six assists and three steals. For OC, Katy O'Steen had eight points and eight rebounds.
