Tommy Guernsey scored OC's first goal in a 3-1 win over Oklahoma Baptist.
OKLAHOMA CITY (Oct. 18, 2011) – Goals by Domenico DeGrazia and Will Binder gave Oklahoma Christian a first-half lead, and the Eagles never led Oklahoma Baptist rally in the second half en route to a 3-1 win on a chilly Tuesday night.
The win – the Eagles' third straight against the Bison – snapped an overall three-game winless streak for OC (6-4-4, 2-3-2 Sooner Athletic Conference). OBU (7-8, 3-4) won its previous game 6-5 at Southern Nazarene and outshot the Eagles 21-10 Tuesday, but most of OC's scoring chances were of a high quality.
"This was a result we needed," OC head coach David Scott said.
Tommy Guernsey headed in a free kick by Neil Hilton in the second minute to put OC ahead 1-0. The Bison equalized in the 14th minute, when Victor Costa headed in a corner kick by Mario Maia.
The Eagles took the lead for good in the 22nd minute. Don Towner sent a pass into the penalty box to Trey Boykin, who dished to DeGrazia. DeGrazia's shot easily beat OBU goalkeeper Nick Ciliberti.
Thirteen minutes later, Hilton took a free kick from the corner, and Binder charged in to get a head on it and send it past Ciliberti into the net, putting the Eagles up 3-1.
OBU's Pedro Pereira received a red card in the 63rd minute after he kicked DeGrazia in the head following a collision between the two. Pereira's ejection meant the Bison had to play a man down the rest of the game and they were unable to generate many good scoring chances after he left.
Goalkeeper Tim Spencer had six saves for the Eagles.
The Eagles will visit St. Gregory's on Saturday before returning home for their final two regular-season games, against Lubbock Christian and Wayland Baptist.
