BARTLESVILLE, Okla. (Sept. 11, 2010) – The Oklahoma Christian men's soccer team failed to claim the win against Oklahoma Wesleyan University on Saturday as the Eagles lost the 2-1 decision in overtime.
The OC men fought through the game holding Oklahoma Wesleyan scoreless until the 86th minute of the game when the Eagles gave up a shot on goal that tied the game at 1-1 sending it into overtime.
The Eagles, however, took the lead first at 1-0 with less than five minutes remaining in the first half. Neil Hilton utilized a penalty kick opportunity to score for the OC men and give them the advantage.
OC continued to hold OWU through the second half until the defensive unit let one through with just four minutes left to play. Entering into overtime, the Eagles yielded the game when OWU netted a second goal in the final minutes of the period to take the 2-1 victory.
The loss puts the Eagles at 0-5 on the season. The OC men will join the women's team on Friday for a double header against the University of Texas – Brownsville. The women kick off at 6 p.m. with the men to follow at 8 p.m.
