EDMOND, Okla. - Despite a 2-0 first-half lead, Oklahoma Christian lost Wednesday night's match to St. Edward's late in the contest, 3-2.
What Went Down
- Oklahoma Christian took the fight to St. Edward's early on, not allowing a single shot on goal in the first half while netting two goals of its own from Tyler Ackah-Wheatcroft and Ethan Nakolo for the 2-0 halftime lead.
- The Hilltoppers broke through the Eagles' back line in the 70' to cut OC's lead in half before a penalty in the box yeilded SEU's game-tying goal in the 78'.
- When it looked like the maroon-and-gray would still escape with at least a draw, St. Edward broke through with the game-winning goal in the 89'
Notes
- Ackah-Wheatcroft had his hand in both of OC's goals Wednesday night, scoring the first goal off a pair of assists from Alejandro Gomez and Igor Caballero before assisting on Nakolo's goal.
- Caballero secured his league-leading sixth assist in the effort against the Hilltoppers. The San Sebastian, Spain, native currently has the most single-season assists by an OC player since Alejandro Colom in 2022.
- Nakolo scored his 15th goal on the season and 12th goal against NCAA competition, which is currently tied for the most in Division II this season.
