Eagles dropped in RSU double header

CLAREMORE, Okla. (May 4, 2010) – The Oklahoma Christian baseball team fell to Rogers State University in Tuesday's double header on the road losing the first game 3-1 and the second 7-5.

Game 1

Rogers State took the lead early in the first game with a run in the second to lead the Eagles 1-0 until OC scored a run in the fifth to tie it up.

Dillon Andrews connected on a single to left field to send home Heath Steele for the score.

The Hillcats responded in the sixth inning with two more runs to take a 3-1 advantage. The Eagles were unable to respond in the seventh resulting in a two run loss.

Taylor Parcus went 2-for-4 at the plate while Steele scored the only run with 1-for-3 hitting.

Despite eight strikeouts and only allowing three runs, Kennedy Winn suffered the loss on the mound for the Eagles.

Game 2

In the second game of the double header, RSU again took the early lead scoring two runs in the second inning.

The Eagles did not get on the board until the fourth inning when Jordan Price doubled and then was driven home by Dustin Andrews on a ground out.

The Hillcats added a run of their own in the bottom of the inning with a score to increase their lead to 3-1.

In the top of the fifth, the Eagles stormed into the lead scoring four runs giving them the advantage over the Hillcats at 5-3. With the bases loaded, Parcus tripled to clear the bases sending home Winn, Tyler Gipson, and Steele. Dillon Andrews hit a sacrifice fly on the next bat to send home Parcus for the final score.

RSU broke back into the lead in the bottom of the inning scoring three runs to lead 6-5 over the Eagles. The Hillcats scored an additional run in the sixth to take a two run advantage over the Eagles winning the game 7-5.

Parcus again led the Eagles going 1-for-4 with a run scored and three RBI.

The Eagles are now 19-25 overall and hold an 11-18 conference record.

OC will finished out their regular season at Dobson Field on Thursday in the final series game against Rogers State starting at 6 p.m.
