OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (April 15, 2010) – Oklahoma Christian University dug themselves out of an early hole against the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma on Thursday. The Eagles came back from five run deficit in the first inning to defeat USAO 9-5.
After giving up five runs in the top of the first inning, the Eagles wasted no time getting on the board. Dustin Andrews singled to right field to drive in Dillon Andrews and cut the USAO lead to 5-1.
The Eagles took the lead with a big second inning. With two outs, Heath Steele doubled to left-center field. After a Taylor Parcus walk, Dillon Andrews singled in the infield to drive in Steele. Jordan Price followed with a three run homer to give the Eagles a 6-5 lead heading into the third.
Oklahoma Christian followed up in the third inning with two more runs. Dillon Andrews doubled to left field to drive in Parcus. Price followed again with a single to left to make the score 8-5.
The Eagles put one more run on he board in the seventh inning when USAO pitchers walked in Steele from third base to make the score 9-5.
Kennedy Winn gave up five runs in the top of the first, but threw eight shutout innings and recording 5 strikeouts in route to the win.
Price led the Eagles at the plate going 2-for-5 with four RBI. Dustin Andrews chipped in going 3-for-4 with two RBI, and Dillon Andrews went 2-for-5 with two RBI.
OC improves to a 17-18 overall record and a 10-12 conference record.
The Eagles will travel to USAO on April 15 for a double header against the Drovers starting at 1 p.m.
