Eagles suffers second consecutive SAC loss

LUBBOCK, Texas (May 5, 2011) – The Oklahoma Christian baseball team suffered a second loss in the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament on Thursday falling to the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma 5-2.

Following a scoreless first inning, the Drovers hopped on the board first with a run in the second to take the early lead at 1-0 going into the third.

Three more innings passed with no runs from either squad before USAO again put up another single run inning to advance to a 2-0 lead over the Eagles.

Two innings later, the Drovers hammered in three more runs to leave the Eagles at a five-run deficit heading into the final inning.

In the bottom of the ninth, the Eagles put up a final effort with two runs to cut the final deficit to a 5-2 USAO victory. After a Jordan Price double and a Dustin Andrews single, Clint Bowker followed up with another single to send home Price for the Eagles' first score. On the next at bat, Zac Coshow pinch hit a single to drive home Andrews to bring the Eagles within three.

Despite the loss, Bowker went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Eagles while Andrews contributed as well with 2-for-3 hitting.

With the loss, the Eagles carry a 24-20 season record and a 16-16 record in conference play. The OC baseball team will continue SAC Tournament play on Friday against Rogers State University (Okla.) at 2 p.m.
