OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (April 10, 2010) – Oklahoma Christian split their double header with Northwestern Oklahoma State University on Saturday as they lost the first game 11-7, and dominated the second with a 10-0 run rule victory.
Game one
After falling behind 5-0 in the second inning, the Eagles were able to cut into the deficit in the bottom of the third. Heath Steele led off the inning with a double to left-center field, followed by a Taylor Parcus single through the infield.
Jordan Price flied out to right field to drive in Steele and Dustin Andrews singled up the middle to score Parcus, making the score 5-2.
The Eagles gave up two more runs in the top of the fifth inning, but scored three runs of their own, on a Dustin Andrews three-run homer in the bottom half of the inning to leave the Eagles trailing 7-5.
Despite the Eagles' efforts, NWOSU scored another four runs in the top of the seventh to put the game out of reach. Dillon Andrews scored on an error and Dustin Andrews scored on a Tyler Gipson single, but the Eagles couldn't make up the difference ending the game 11-7.
Dustin Andrews led the Eagles at the plate, going 2-for-3 with five RBI.
Game two
The Eagles got on the board first in game two when Steele hit a grand slam to center field, driving in Justin Ebert, Gipson and Chris Miller. Going into the third inning the scoreboard showed a 4-0 Eagle lead.
OC added another run in the third inning after Ebert homered to center to make the score 5-0.
The Eagles continued to beat up on NWOSU's pitching in the fourth inning as they scored five more runs.
Kennedy Winn led off the inning with a double to left-center field, and Miller followed with a bunt single to the left side of the infield. Steele cleared the bases for the second time with a three-run homerun to left field making the score 8-0.
Following Steele's homer, Parcus scored on a wild pitch after a triple to center field. Dillon Andrews then drew a walk, and was driven in on a Dustin Andrews' single to right field putting the score at 10-0.
The Eagles continued their shutout of the Rangers in the fifth to end the game early in a run rule.
Dustin Andrews pitched five shutout innings, only giving up five hits and recording three strikeouts.
Heath Steel had a huge impact game at the plate going 2-for-2 with seven RBI.
The Eagles are now 15-18 on the season and 9-12 in Sooner Athletic Conference play.
Oklahoma Christian will return to action on April 13, as they host the University of Central Oklahoma at Dobson Field. The Eagles defeated UCO 12-0 on the road on April 8.
