OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (May 6, 2010) – The Oklahoma Christian baseball team struggled on the mound Thursday night as they closed out their season with a 24-8 loss to Rogers State University.
The Eagles made their way through six pitchers as they gave up a total of 17 earned runs and seven unearned. Ryan Morris closed out the game for the Eagles only allowing one run through two innings and recording two strikeouts.
OC had a bumpy start with the road never to get any smoother. The Hillcats put up three runs in each of the first two innings to take an early 6-0 lead. The Eagles responded with two runs in the bottom of the second to get on the board.
Jeff Davis connected to hit a double sending home both Tyler Gipson and Chris Miller.
In the top of the third, Rogers State gapped the Eagles even further with a six run performance taking a 10 run lead at 12-2. After Tim Dodd stepped in at the mound to stop the scoring, the Eagles got back into the game with six scores of their own in the bottom of the fourth.
Jay White got the momentum going for the Eagles with a three run homer that sent in Miller and Josh Balch. Jordan Price sent in the next three scores with a double to right field allowing Quaid Johns, Taylor Parcus, and Dillon Andrews to make it home. Heading into the fifth, the Eagles trailed 12-8.
Unable to score again, the Eagles gave up seven runs in the fifth and five in the sixth taking the Hillcats to a 16 run lead at 24-8. The game ended after the seventh with the run rule victory going to RSU.
Jeff Davis led at the plate going 2-for-4 with two RBI while Miller went 2-for-3 with two runs scored. White and Price each added three RBI.
The Eagles closed out their season with a 19-26 season record and finished 11-19 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
