Eagles dominate first match with UCO

EDMOND, Okla. (April 6, 2010) – The Oklahoma Christian baseball team bounced back from a three game losing streak as they routed NCAA division II University of Central Oklahoma 12-0 on Tuesday.

The Eagles utilized a late inning scoring streak to pull away from the Bronchos scoring eight runs over the last two innings and kept UCO scoreless all the while.

Taylor Parcus excelled at the plate for the Eagles batting 4-for-6 and scored the first run to put OC up 1-0 in the first inning. After hitting a double to get on base, Parcus made it home on an error that allowed Zac Coshow to reach first.

In the top of the third, the Eagles' Dillon Andrews added another run to the board heading home from second base when Jordan Price singled to left field.

Two OC batters made it home in the top of the sixth after two futile innings to increase their lead to 4-0 heading into the seventh. The scores came from a two run homer hit by Heath Steele that also drove in Justin Ebert.

After another scoreless inning, the Eagles broke away with a five run eighth to put up a 9-0 lead heading into the final inning. Jeff Davis was the first to score when Steele sent him home on a sacrifice bunt. Jay White was the next one in when Parcus hit a double sending him home. Andrews then drove both Parcus and Josh Balch home with a triple. Andrews made his way home two batters later when Quaid Johns hit a single.

With the game already in their hands, the Eagles topped it off with three more runs in the ninth. Two runs were driven in from Parcus on a triple that sent Balch and White home. Parcus scored the final run on a sacrifice fly from Andrews leaving the Eagles with the 12-0 victory.

Parcus led at the plate adding three runs and three RBI. Balch went 2-for-3 with two runs scored while Andrews went 2-for-5 with two runs and three RBI.

Conner Williams took home the win after pitching six innings and allowing no runs and just two hits.

The Eagles are now 14-16 overall and remain at 8-10 for the conference.

OC will head to Alva, Okla. on Thursday to take on Northwestern Oklahoma State University in a single nine inning game beginning at 2 p.m.
