Eagles drop two on the diamond

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (May 1, 2010) – The Oklahoma Christian baseball team fell in both games of the double header against Mid-America Christian University on Saturday losing their first game 9-5 before losing the second 5-4 in extra innings.

Game 1

Mid-America Christian took the initial lead with two runs in the first before the Eagles responded with a run in the second. Tyler Gipson utilized a passed ball to score the first run for the Eagles.

After the Evangels added another run in the bottom of the inning, the Eagles came back with three runs in the third inning to take the lead at 4-3.

The first run came from Dillon Andrews off a single from Gipson. Gipson and Zac Coshow followed home later on a double from Jeff Davis.

Despite taking the lead, the Eagles lost it in the fourth inning when the Evangels added another three runs of their own to take a 6-4 lead.

The Eagles came within one in the fifth when Davis hit Coshow home with a single to right field to make it 6-5.

MACU scored three more runs in the sixth making the score out of reach for the Eagles at 9-5.

Davis led at the plate with 2-for-3 hitting and three RBI. Gipson went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI and two runs scored.

Game 2

The Eagles scored the first run of the game in the second game when Jordan Price scored on a passed ball. The Evangels responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning to hold a 2-1 advantage heading into the second.

The Eagles were the next to score with two runs in the third inning. Andrews scored the second run for the Eagles on a passed ball before Price scored later on a sacrifice fly from Coshow.

OC increased their lead to 4-2 in the fifth inning when Andrews scored on a single from Gipson.

The Evangels tied up the game in the bottom of the sixth after scoring a run in the fifth to make it 4-4 heading into the final inning.

Lasting into extra innings, the Evangels took the second game with a score in the bottom of the ninth ending in a 5-4 decision.

Price went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Eagles while Andrews chipped in with 2-for-5 success with each scoring two runs.

The losses leave the Eagles at 19-23 overall and 11-16 in conference before heading into their final regular season series against Rogers State University (Okla.). OC will head to the road to play in a double header on Tuesday starting at 3 p.m.
