Eagles hammer away to 15-3 win over MACU

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (April 29. 2010) – The Oklahoma Christian baseball team utilized two home runs from Taylor Parcus and a 13 run fourth inning to run rule Mid-America Christian University on Thursday night 15-3.

The Evangels took the lead to start with a single run in the first inning.

Lead off batter for the Eagles, Taylor Parcus, connected on his second pitch to send one over the fence to tie up the game 1-1.

Mid-America Christian regained the lead in the second inning with another single score and increased to a two run lead in the third with one more to make it 3-1.

In the bottom of the third, Parcus took his second at bat only to send another home run over the fence to leave the Eagles down by one at 3-2.

After holding the Evangels from scoring in the fourth, the Eagles exploded for 13 runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 15-3 unrecoverable lead.

Tyler Gipson was the first to score after heading home from second base on a single from Jeff Davis that also sent home Justin Ebert from first for two RBI. Two more scores came later when Dillon Andrews singled to centerfield driving home Josh Balch, pinch running for Davis, and Jay White.

Two batters later, Dustin Andrews flied out allowing Parcus another shot at home plate. Zac Coshow followed with a single to drive Dillon Andrews home for the sixth score of the inning.

Gipson followed up with a single to shortstop allowing Price to make it home. With the bases loaded, the Eagles walked three runners home including Coshow, Gipson, and Parcus for three more scores.

With the bases still loaded, Dillon Andrews hit a triple to centerfield to send in three runners making the score 15-3. Balch, White, and Parcus each scored on the play.

The Eagles held the Evangels scoreless through three more innings to take the game with a run rule in the seventh at 15-3.

Dillon Andrews excelled at the plate hitting 2-for-5 with five RBI and a run scored. Parcus connected on two out of three and tallied three RBI and four runs scored. Davis added in with 1-for-3 hitting and three RBI.

Kennedy Winn secured the win for the Eagles on the mound allowing only three runs in six innings and registering six strikeouts.

The Eagles will finish up their series with MACU on Saturday in a road double header starting at 1 p.m.
