OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (April 19, 2011) – The Oklahoma Christian baseball team came up short on Tuesday night as they fell to cross town competitor Central Oklahoma 7-3 in a single nine-inning match.
UCO got things started first with two runs in the first inning and led 2-0 over the Eagles through the next two innings.
In the top of the fourth, the Bronchos put up two more runs to put a four-run gap on the Eagles, however, OC responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning cutting UCO's lead back to two.
With both Jordan Price and Dustin Andrews on base, Tyler Gipson fired a double to right-center field to send both base runners home and make the score 4-2, Broncho lead.
During the fifth, UCO sent three more runners home to advance to a 7-2 lead. In the bottom of the inning, pinch runner Garrett Stephenson made it home for the Eagles on a ground out hit by Dillon Andrews to leave OC trailing by four runs.
The remainder of the game was scoreless leaving the victory to the Bronchos at 7-3.
The OC baseball team is slated to return to conference play on Thursday with a home game against No. 3 Oklahoma City University beginning at 7 p.m.
