OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (April 3, 2010) – The No. 3 Oklahoma City University baseball team took the final game of the series with a 17-4 win over Oklahoma Christian on Saturday afternoon.
The Oklahoma City lineup had no problem getting on base during Saturday's series cap between the Eagles and Stars.
The Eagles rotated through their pitching lineup in an effort to silence the OCU bats, however, nothing seemed to work as the Stars put up 17 runs off of 14 hits.
After three scoreless innings for the Eagles, OC trailed 6-0 before they put up two runs of their own in the fourth. Zach Coshow hit a triple to send home Dustin Andrews before Coshow scored off a sacrifice fly from Tyler Gipson.
The Eagles scored two more runs over the next two innings before the game was ended by run rule in the seventh inning. Taylor Parcus hit a home run in the fifth and Andrews scored off a fielder's choice in the sixth to total out the Eagles' four scores.
The Star's Drew McAdoo emphasized OCU's scoring frenzy with a first pitch grand slam in the bottom of the fifth.
Parcus led the Eagles at the plate hitting 3-for-4 while Gipson went 1-for-2 with two RBI.
The 17-4 loss leaves the Eagles at 13-16 overall and 8-10 for conference play.
The Eagles will head across town to play NCAA division II University of Central Oklahoma on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
