Eagles blast past Bacone on the road

MUSKOGEE, Okla. (Feb. 22, 2011) – The Oklahoma Christian baseball team captured both games of a double header against Bacone College (Okla.) on Tuesday as they narrowly won the first 3-2 and then dominated the second 17-4.

Game 1

In the first inning, both the Eagles and the Warriors each tallied a single run to leave things tied up at 1-1 heading into the second.

In the bottom of the second inning, Bacone tallied another score to take a one run lead before heading into two scoreless innings. Trailing 2-1, the Eagles responded with a run of their own in the fifth to tie the score at 2-2.

With neither squad able to score before the end of the seventh, the game went into extra innings with the Eagles claiming a one run 3-2 victory in the ninth.

Jeff Davis went 2-for-2 at the plate and tallied a RBI while both Taylor Parcus and Zac Coshow each hit 1-for-4 and recorded a score.

Clint Bowker pitched through seven innings and tallied seven strikeouts before Bret Rodgers came in the eighth to record the win.

Game 2

In game two, the Eagles had a hard time missing as they tallied 14 hits in a 17-4 victory over the Warriors.

OC got on the board early with three runs in the first and two more in the second to hold an early 5-0 lead. In the bottom of the third, Bacone responded with a single run while the Eagles came back with two more in the top of the fourth.

The Warriors drove another runner home in the bottom of the fourth and got two more in the bottom of the fifth, but with five runs by the Eagles in both the fifth and sixth innings, OC captured the 17-4 victory with a run rule ending the game before the seventh.

Numerous Eagles came away with successful hitting while Dillon Andrews led hitting 3-for-3, scoring a run, and recording four RBI. Coshow tallied a homer while recording 2-for-4 hitting with three RBI and two runs scored.

Parcus, Bowker, Tyler Gipson, and Davis recorded two RBI apiece while each, with the exception of Davis, tallied two runs apiece as well. Garrett Stephenson pinch ran for Davis rounding the bases twice.

Heath Steele led the Eagles' scoring heading home three times on 2-for-2 hitting.

Riley Jones pitched through five innings to pick up the win and recorded four strikeouts in the process.

The wins improve the Eagles to 5-2 overall before they start conference play on Thursday at Mid-America Christian University (Okla.). OC will play a nine inning game beginning at 1 p.m.
