SHAWNEE, Okla. (April 16, 2011) – The Oklahoma Christian baseball team split their away double header with No. 6 ranked Oklahoma Baptist University on Saturday falling in game one 4-0 before winning the second 3-2.
Game 1
The Bison got right down to it right off the bat as they put up a two-score lead in the first and then followed with another run in the second to take a 3-0 lead heading into the third.
Unable to score themselves, the Eagles managed to hold Oklahoma Baptist from scoring over the next three innings before the Bison put up a final run in the sixth.
With OBU carrying a 4-0 lead heading into the final inning, the Eagles again came up short not able to respond leaving the victory to the Bison.
The Eagles put up three hits during the outing with Dustin Andrews, Tyler Gipson, and Clint Bowker each recording a hit.
Game 2
In the second game, the Eagles held a tight rein on the Bison despite OBU taking the lead first with a single run in the second to leave OC at a 1-0 deficit heading into the third.
The Eagles fought back in the top of the third putting up two runs to take a one-run lead of their own at 2-1. Chance Nichols was the first to run home doing so on a passed ball by the Bison. On the same at bat, Caleb Price hit a ground out allowing Taylor Parcus to head home as well for the second score.
In the bottom of the fourth, the Bison retaliated with another single run inning to tie things up at 2-2.
During the top of the fifth, the Eagles' Jordan Price blasted a home run to put OC back in the lead with a one-run advantage at 3-2.
A determined OC squad held tough on defense to keep the Bison scoreless through the final innings and claim the 3-2 win.
Parcus led the Eagles' efforts at the plate going 3-for-4 with a run scored while Jordan Price helped out as well with 2-for-3 success, one RBI, and a run scored. Conner Williams pitched through five innings for the Eagles to secure the win while allowing just two runs.
The split brings the Eagles to 22-12 overall and to 14-9 for conference play. The OC baseball team will finish close their series with the Bison on Sunday in a single game at 1 p.m. at Dobson Field.
