OKLAHOMA CITY (March 27, 2010) – Oklahoma Christian dropped game one of a soggy doubleheader against Southern Nazarene University, 12-3, before game two was stopped in the fourth inning due to rain.
SNU led off the top of the first inning with three straight singles, scoring two runs to jump ahead of the Eagles 2-0.
The Eagles had runners in scoring position early after Taylor Parcus and Jordan Price singled back-to-back, but could not take advantage as the score stayed 2-0.
SNU scored another four runs in the second inning, highlighted by a three run homer, to make the score 6-0.
Parcus led off the third inning with a double to leftfield followed by a single from Price to drive in Parcus and put the Eagles on the board at 6-1.
SNU homered twice in the fourth scoring three more runs and pushing their lead to 9-1 over the Eagles.
In the fifth inning Tyler Gipson singled to right field to drive in Price, followed by a Jeff Davis homerun in the sixth to make the score 10-3.
The Eagles struggled to get runners in scoring position in the sixth and seventh innings and the game ended with a 12-3 result.
Price and Davis led the Eagles at the plate, both going 3-for-3 with an RBI apiece.
Brady Hamer started the game on the mound for the Eagles to pitch only 1.1 innings, as six runs were given up on seven hits. Ryan Morris entered the game in relief to pitch 5.2 innings, strike out five and give up six runs on seven hits.
The Eagles' record falls to 11-13 overall and 7-7 for conference play.
The second game was ended after the third inning with SNU leading 1-0 and will be resumed on Monday at 6 p.m.
