Eagles go winless against Wayland

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (March 19, 2010) – The Oklahoma Christian baseball team continued to struggle against the Pioneers of Wayland Baptist University falling in both doubleheader games on Friday with run rules in each.

The Eagles dropped the first game in the seventh inning losing 11-0 and lost the second in the fifth inning losing 11-1.

Game 1

The first game was a fielding battle for the first three innings, as neither team was able to score. At the top of the fourth, Wayland Baptist sent two runners home to start their scoring streak.

The Eagles were held scoreless from the Pioneers throughout the game as WBU added another nine runs over the next three innings to take the game with a run rule in the seventh inning.

The Eagles only managed two hits during the game, both of which came from Dillon Andrews who went 2-for-4 during the game.

Game 2

The Pioneers continued to hit well from the start of the second game scoring three runs in the first to take the early lead.

After WBU tallied another two scores in the second inning, the Eagles got on the board in the bottom of the inning when Tyler Gipson hit a homer over the fence.

Gipson's homer was the only run for the Eagles during the game. The Pioneers, however, scored three runs in both the third and fourth innings to take to an 11-1 lead heading into the fifth.

A scoreless fifth unfolded leaving the Eagles subject to the 11-1 run rule loss.

OC tallied two hits during the game including Gipson's homerun, who went 1-for-2 at the plate. Josh Balch gave the Eagles their second hit going 1-for-2 at the plate as well.

The Eagles after losing their fifth consecutive game are now 10-12 on the season and 6-6 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.

The OC baseball team will head to the road to play Bacone College (Okla.) on Tuesday in a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
