OC baseball drops UCO in round two

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (April 13, 2010) – The Oklahoma Christian baseball team trounced the University of Central Oklahoma 15-8 in their second matchup of the season on Tuesday night despite windy conditions and three homeruns from the Bronchos.

The Eagles took the first lead after scoring two runs in the first from Jordan Price on a Chris Miller single and Dillon Andrews on a single from Zac Coshow.

OC let up a run in the second when Central Oklahoma's Casey Bruns hit a homerun. The Eagles responded in the bottom of the inning with five runs to advance to a 7-1 lead.

Nichols answered first with a homerun of his own. Taylor Parcus and Dillon Andrews were the next to head home after a UCO fielding error. Dustin Andrews, next at the plate, hit a sacrifice fly to send Price home for a score. Jay White was the last to round the bases for the Eagles and made it home off a double from Coshow as a pinch runner.

UCO tallied three runs in the third inning still leaving the Eagles with the advantage heading into the fourth at 7-4.

OC registered another five run inning in the fourth. Parcus was the first to score and did so from a single by Price. Price then made his way home on a single from Chris Miller. Coshow topped of the inning's scoring with a three run homer to score Dustin Andrews and White.

Leading 12-4, the Eagles gave up one run in each of innings 5-8 allowing the Bronchos to come with five scores in the seventh. The Eagles kept the game out of reach as they scored three runs in the bottom of the inning.

Balch scored the first run when Price hit a sacrifice fly to send him home. Dustin Andrews followed to send home Parcus and Dillon Andrews with a single to left field for two more scores.

The Eagles closed out the matchup with a 15-8 victory and improved their overall record to 16-18.

Price was perfect at the plate as he hit 3-for-3 scoring three runs and registering two RBI. Coshow recorded 3-for-4 hitting with a run and five RBI.

Brady Hamar pitched through five innings to record the win with three strikeouts and only two earned runs.

The Eagles will return to their conference schedule to play the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma at home on Thursday starting at 5 p.m.
