Baseball picks up two in OBU doubleheader

SHAWNEE, Okla. (Feb. 25, 2010) – The Eagles began Sooner Athletic Conference play by sweeping a pair of games on the road against Oklahoma Baptist, taking the first game 4-2 and the second 6-5.

Game 1

Dillon Andrews and Taylor Parcus led off the Eagles' first inning with back-to-back singles. Andrews scored on an OBU error and gave the Eagles a 1-0 lead.

The Eagles scored again in the top of the fifth when Jordan Price singled to left to drive in Parcus and make it a 2-0 Eagles' lead.

After OBU tied the game in the bottom of the fifth, the Eagles retook the lead in the top of the eighth when Zac Coshow homered to left to score the winning runs and give the Eagles a 4-2 lead.

Kennedy Winn started the game for the Eagles pitching 5.1 innings, striking out four, and giving up two runs. Brady Hamar earned the win pitching two shutout innings and Parcus picked up the save.

Coshow led the Eagles at the plate going 1 for 4 with 2 RBIs, and Parcus went 2 for 3, scoring two runs.

Game 2

Again, the Eagles jumped out to an early 1-0 lead, when Price flied out to left field to bring Dillon Andrews in from third.

OBU retaliated scoring three runs in the bottom of the first and one in the second to take a 4-1 lead.

Jeff Davis led off the top fifth with a single to leftfield. Heath Steele followed with a triple to score David before Steele scored on a Dillon Andrews single. Dillon Andrews later scored on a sacrifice fly by Dustin Andrews to tie the game at 4-4.

The Eagles scored two more runs in the sixth inning when Dillon Andrews drove in Quaid Johns and Steele to give the Eagles a 6-4 lead before the seventh.

OBU scored another run in the bottom of the seventh inning, but were unable to regain the lead ending the game 6-5 in favor of the Eagles.

Dillon Andrews led the Eagles at the plate, going 3 for 3 with 2 RBIs and two runs scored.

The Eagles will return to action on Feb. 27 at home against OBU, game time to be announced.
