Garrett Stephenson had two hits for OC in an 8-2 loss to Southern Nazarene.
OKLAHOMA CITY (April 7, 2012) – John Basnight went 4-for-4 with six RBIs and pitched eight strong innings for Southern Nazarene as the Crimson Storm beat Oklahoma Christian 8-2 on Saturday afternoon at Dobson Field.
SNU (16-19, 12-9 Sooner Athletic Conference) completed a sweep of the three-game series between the longtime rivals. OC (7-25, 3-21) had beaten the Crimson Storm in a nonconference game to open the season.
Basnight put the Crimson Storm ahead 2-0 with a two-run double in the first inning and he drove in three more runs with a bases-loaded double in the second that made it 6-0 and chased OC starter Will Reinke (0-3).
Basnight also hit a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning, giving SNU an 8-1 lead. On the mound, he allowed seven hits and struck out six while walking three to move to 4-2 on the season.
Harrison Mendez replaced Reinke and went the rest of the way for the Eagles. He allowed eight hits and two runs while striking out six in 7 1/3 innings.
Dillon Andrews and Garrett Stephenson each went 2-for-3 for OC, which has lost 20 straight games.
OC will host Bacone in a nonconference game on Tuesday afternoon.
