ALVA, Okla. (March 23, 2012) – Northwestern Oklahoma State pitcher Jason Martyn threw a three-hit shutout as the Rangers beat Oklahoma Christian 12-0 on Friday at Myers Stadium in the first of a three-game series between the Sooner Athletic Conference foes.
Northwestern (17-15, 7-7 SAC) scored in five of its six at-bats against OC (7-16, 3-12) and the scheduled nine-inning game ended after the top of the seventh because of the 10-run rule. OC has lost 11 straight games.
Martyn (5-2) allowed an infield single by Tanner Hessman in the first inning, a single by Heath Steele in the fourth and a seventh-inning single by Wes Dorough. Martyn struck out five and walked three.
Jarad Moore went 3-for-5 with two RBIs and Wesley Brorsen, Jonathan Freemyer and George Mendoza had two hits each for the Rangers, who finished with 14 hits against OC pitchers Ryan Morris (2-5), Heath Orndorff and Ryan Nash.
The Eagles will host Northwestern in a doubleheader on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Dobson Field in Oklahoma City.
