Eagles Blast Past Newman for 4-0 Road Victory

WICHITA, Kan. – Oklahoma Christian women's soccer bounced back in a big way Saturday night, defeating Newman 4-0 at Wilkins Field.

The Eagles controlled the match offensively, outshooting the Jets 29-5 and putting 16 shots on goal. OC scored once in the opening half before breaking the match open with three second-half goals.

Oklahoma Christian broke through in the 42nd minute when Jordan Tanges found the back of the net to give the Eagles a 1-0 advantage heading into halftime. 

The Eagles wasted little time adding to their lead after the break. In the 59th minute, Caid Jefferson scored off an assist from Zoe Walker, pushing the OC advantage to 2-0.

Just over six minutes later, Rylan McIntyre joined the scoring with a goal in the 65th minute off an assist from Tanges. Sophia Acuna capped the scoring in the 69th minute, finishing a pass from Jenna Munson to give Oklahoma Christian a commanding 4-0 lead.

Four different Eagles scored in the victory, while Tanges finished with three points on a goal and an assist. Munson led OC with six shots, including four on goal, while McIntyre and Jefferson each recorded four shots.

The Oklahoma Christian defense was equally impressive, holding Newman to just five shots and four shots on goal. Breanna Wooten made four saves in 85 minutes in goal before Paisley Trammel finished out the shutout.

The Eagles begin conference play this week, traveling to Denton, Texas to take on the Texas Woman's Pioneers Wednesday, September 9th at 6 p.m.
